We have long been advocates if using social media to engage with consumers and drive online sales (you only need to look at the number of posts on this site relating to social media). It doesn't seem like a day goes by without a report or some data being released showing just how important it can be.

I'm sure that you are already aware that social media drives traffic to your website. Which sites you should invest your valuable resources in is open to debate however.

There is little doubt that regular updates to your profile can help to attract new customers, engage existing customers and reconnect with those that may have previously visited your site.

Sadly, you can't simply put all your eggs in one basket when it comes to social media. An infographic published on esellermedia.com shows that Pinterest is becoming an increasingly important channel in the mix, especially if you are running an e-commerce store.

Facebook and Google+ profile sizes

Whilst working on some updates to our Facebook and Google+ profiles recently, I realised that I didn't actually know what size the cover photos or the profile pictures should be. So I started to dig, but after spending a while looking around and finding different sizes on the internet, I eventually ended up getting out the trusty element inspector to find the right sizes myself. 

So if you were wanting to design or update your own cover and profile pictures, here are the correct dimensions for both Facebook and Google+.
