By Paul Rufus

We've been using New Relic, which provides SaaS application performance management, on Yetti for a number of years. They very kindly provided some statistics on how site speed can impact on e-commerce performance such as revenue, conversions, page views and downloads.

I thought it would be useful to share them with you.

Usability: fundamental to survival

By Paul Rufus
20th Nov 2012
Research recently published by ’I Spy Marketing’ pointed to a number of key success factors for e-commerce stores - the key factor for consumers is navigation and design:

‘75% of consumers say they would not continue to shop on a website which was difficult to navigate or poorly designed’

Usability aspects within a website provide the interface that the user needs to navigate the site and find the information they seek or steer them to the outcome you want, i.e. purchase your products, sign up for a trial or download a whitepaper.

Yetti vs Wordpress

By Sam Holman
1st Oct 2012
At Yetti, and our parent company, Label Media, we do sometimes work on something that isn't Yetti. Just recently I've been working on a WordPress project. I've hated WordPress for a long time, based on it's architecture of spaghetti code and anti-patterns, and I've always been fairly vocal about that fact. But having spent a few weeks working on the first solid project I've ever had to do with WordPress I thought I'd write a short comparison article between it and Yetti. You can call me biased if you like. I don't care, I'm gonna do it anyway.

Benefits of SaaS

By Paul Rufus

Legacy browsers are a constant pain - all web designers know it. Internet Explorer 6 support disappeared a while ago, even its creators, Microsoft, don't support it any more. Is it now time to drop support for IE7 as well?

Over on the Label Media blog (Yetti's parent company), we've discussed quite a lot about various topics related to software development, design patterns and methodologies. But I figured some people may be interested to read a little more specifically about our development process for Yetti.

Privacy and password security

By Sam Holman
8th Jun 2012
So, as I'm sure you're all aware, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) deadline passed a few weeks ago (on the 26th May), meaning that sites across the UK (and Europe) should be getting some form of consent for the setting of cookies. We can argue the Earth about this legislation being entirely pointless and detrimental to the end user experience without protecting any privacy at all, and this becomes even more apparent in light of the recent password leaks from sites such as LinkedIn, eHarmony and Last.fm.
